Fishing at Ower
We are pleased to announce that we are able to offer exclusive use of the River Blackwater which runs through the shooting ground at Ower. This famous tributary of the world renowned River Test is a very important carrier for the Autumn passage of Sea Trout which will soon start their migration to the upper stretches for spawning.
The Blackwater hosts a variety of game and coarse species including Wild Brown Trout, Grayling, Chub, Roach, Dace, Perch along with migrating Sea Trout and the odd stray Salmon.
Please contact either Pam or Jason for any fishing enquiries. We can also offer tuition on fly and coarse fishing if needed. Valid EA rod licence will be required.
As some may have noticed, we have commenced with the river’s restoration project which will be to promote both in channel and marginal weed growth. We are already seeing some benefits with Ranunculus growth now evident. Additionally, Gudgeon and Bullhead have recently been witnessed on the clean gravel areas.
We continue to pull large areas of Himalayian Balsam which is invasive. We would welcome willing volunteers to helps us pull this at the root. Tony’s famous burgers and hot tea of coffee awaits.
Thanks and look forward to seeing you on the banks soon.
